Re: That one little part..

(Why on Earth would you use a USB jack on a vintage-themed design, anyway? Isn't a 5.5x2.1 barrel more correct?) A barrel would be more correct. But then you'd need (as a kit supplier) to include a special power supply with all kinds of downsides: - power supply needed at extra cost - power supply ...

Re: 10MHz, 12.5MHz and Beyond!

I have the 15MHz version here. It has a different SRAM (AS7C256A-10JCN) that is not available in DIP28, so it uses a small SOJ-to-DIP adapter board. The ROM is a fast 27C1024 EEPROM (containing the special ROM v3y). CLK2 is not used, CLK1 is split off to CLK2. The caps (C1 and C2) in the pierce osci...

Read this if you need support building your Gigatron

A thousand enthusiasts have succesfully built the Gigatron kit that we sold in the period 2018-2020. We feel that all things that might possibly cause problems are well known by now. Mind you, there were only several tens of support requests for those kits, which we are very pleased with and is than...

Re: New games for the Gigatron

Re: I have some problems with my gigatron.

You can check by rubbing some acetone on it. If the text disappears, they are rebranded. Buying several and them all having exactly the same numbers is also a giveaway. Plenty of video's on the subject on YouTube. E.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12u_hBkHB88 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9nas...

Re: New Gigatron with 128K expansion. Boots from SD!

Funny you should post this today. I also just soldered and installed the expansion today. I had to wait for a new programmer to arrive, I had a TL866 but that cannot program these GALs. So I got a TL866IIplus, but this turned out to be problematic.. I ordered in China, but made sure to use a seller ...

Re: Ye Olde Gigatron and Gigatronski

In my brain there is a connection between "ZIF socket" and "green". So although my eyes are working fine, I incorrectly called it green. It is aqua.
