Re: In memoriam Marcel

I'm very saddened to hear of Marcel's passing. Marcel's death must be a terrible blow to you Walter, and to Marcel's friends and family. Please accept my sympathy and my condolences. Like many on this forum, I had the opportunity to communicate with Marcel (and with you too, Walter). I found both of...

Re: On ROM v5a

Marcel, I'm downcast to learn that you are having to deal with declining health. I hope that the professionals will be able to address the problems and that you return to good health. Know that you have only best wishes from me, and from the rest of the Gigatron community.

Re: Using a USB keyboard

Thanks. I hadn't imagined that I would have been getting the benefit of troubleshooting that you'd already done on the keyboard! I'd simply concluded (err, assumed) that I had an unsuitable USB keyboard and that "any" PS2 keyboard must work like a charm! As the old says goes, you know what happens w...

Re: Using a USB keyboard

At first I was just checking the voltage with a DMM. Later I plugged in a USB digital voltage and current meter. That's what I used to measure how many amps were being drawn. Thanks for the tip. I'll measure the voltage at the Gigatron with the USB meter in place to see if it's dopping voltage. Dave...

Using a USB keyboard

I tried to connect a Verbatim 99201 USB keyboard to the Gigatron via Pluggy McPlugface and a PS2-to-USB adapter. The keyboard, which worked fine on my Raspberry Pi, had trouble connecting to the Gigatron. Sometimes it would start working almost immediately (in less than 10 seconds), sometimes it wou...

Re: Another Gigatron is alive!

Hi Marcel, Thanks for the reply and for putting together such a great project. Yes, I looked at that post and a couple of others as I tried to figure out the problem I was having with my keyboard. I was trying to connect a USB keyboard to the Gigatron via Pluggy McPlugface and a PS2-to-USB adapter. ...

Re: Fitting a screen inside the wooden box

Looks very nice.

What LCD panel did you get?

Did it come with a VGA interface, or did you have to integrate that?

Another Gigatron is alive!

Hello: I recently finished building the Gigatron kit and am pleased to report that it worked on first power-on. The kit was a pleasure to build. I was particularly impressed with the PCB, how well marked and laid out it is, and how easy it was to solder. Whomever is manufacturing the PCB does a real...
