Re: Gigatron in Shepparton Australia and detailed build info

Good work - glad you got it working.

Thanks for putting together the list of links and advice for new users. It is important that all this information can be easily located and accessed by newcomers.

Re: A Gigatron Simulator for Learning Digital Logic.

Hi Hans,

I have added the two files 62256.dig and 27C1024.dig to the repository.

https://github.com/monsonite/Gigatron-Simulator

If you paste these files into the library - something like:

\Digital\examples\lib\DIL Chips\EPROMs
l\Digital\examples\lib\DIL Chips\RAMs

They should then be available.

A Gigatron Simulator for Learning Digital Logic.

Hi All, I have recently created a simulator of the Gigatron circuit, using H. Neeman's Digital Simulator - which is available on Github. This simulator allows you to animate the TTL circuit and monitor the various signals as they switch. It allows you to single step through the instructions and watc...

Re: 10MHz, 12.5MHz and Beyond!

Walter, Marcel and I collaborated over the high speed version. I supplied the RAM on its adaptor pcb, the blank ROM and all of the 74F series ICs that were still available - in particular the 74F283 adders and 74F153 multiplexers to speed up the ALU. The counters in the Program Counter, X-reg and th...

Re: 10MHz, 12.5MHz and Beyond!

Joe, I increased the clock frequency to 8MHz, just using the standard components, and I was still able to get a much compressed picture from my monitor. I increased the frequency to 10MHz and although the monitor would no longer sync to this, the Blinkenlights still flashed confirming that the machi...

Re: A monthly Gigatron meetup on Zoom.

As I have only heard from 2 forum members regarding the monthly Zoom meet-up, I will take this as members, in general, not being interested in this sort of event. If you have any strong views either way, please let me know, and if there is a sufficiently positive response then we work towards gettin...

Re: A monthly Gigatron meetup on Zoom.

That sounds like a great idea, I'm not sure I could attend regularly, (I think that's around 3:00am my time), but I could try and show up every now and then. Thanks for your support. It gives an alternative means of sharing Gigatron projects and techniques as well as an opportunity to meet other me...

A monthly Gigatron meetup on Zoom.

Hi All, I'd like to put forward the suggestion for a regular monthly meetup for Gigatron enthusiasts on Zoom. It would be an opportunity to meet other users, and learn what's happening in the rest of the Gigatron community. It could take the form of a "show and tell" where users could talk...

Re: Sell Gigatron?

In May of 2019 I did a partial study of how Gigatron could be reduced to a smaller 200mm x 100mm 4-layer pcb. https://forum.gigatron.io/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=118 This made use of 74xx573 and 74xx574 registers to improve the signal routing between ICs. It also included the expansion components to a...

Re: List of possible Gigatron mods

Here's my take on it. As a non-games player, the colour graphics, blinkenlights and sound don't really interest me. Imagine the Gigatron as a general purpose CPU. It's capable of emulating 6502, Z80 and any other cpu. Remove the overheads of VGA video generation and it becomes a powerful cpu (by 198...
