at67, is it your position that there probably shouldn't ever be any post-Marcel ROM releases continuing from the v1/v2/v3/v4/v5a series?

I imagine that there might be some more context to this than is evident from the two recent threads on this forum, but I'd like to understand whether this is to do with timing/approach/speed/consensus/permission/style/personality or a general view that this is just the wrong thing to do.

Not at all, anyone is able to make pull requests for future ROM's, (as lb3361 has been doing).

My issue is when components of ROMvX0 or applications intended for ROMvX0 end up in a competing ROM before ROMvX0 is released, there's more to the story, but this is all that currently concerns me.

If anyone wants to use the ideas implemented in ROMvX0 for their own ROM's, (before ROMvX0 is released), then have at it, just implement them yourself is all I ask. i.e. you can study the source to roll your own code.

OK, thanks for clarifying. For what it's worth, I think we as a community probably should be actively trying to prepare a new release in that series - the current situation where v4 lacks useful functionality, but v5a is not a final release (and has known bugs) presents difficulties for anyone trying to develop software that they want to be widely shared.

But I think that for anything to be regarded as an "official" release in that series would require a lot of consensus from the community, not just about whether it's desirable, or what version number to use, but about the goals of the release, and the process we're going to follow, and I don't think we got to that point in the other thread.

I don't love the idea of "competing" ROMs; is there any reason we can't just let a thousand flowers bloom? There are a lot of different and interesting ideas for ROM designs to explore. Nonetheless, I can understand the desire to present your work as a whole, and when you're ready to do so. In a sense it's an artwork.

For the record, my wish was not to release a "competing ROM" but to help the making of a "community ROM" representing the collective achievements of this small community (and certainly not just my own work or taste.) I thought that we had sufficient material and that this was useful for the life of the community. I did not think it was a big offence. But so be it.

I wish this project can continue. It sounds like an awesome ROM.

I want to thank everyones contribution to GIgatron project. Without support it would not have been such a success. Both ROMs are needed for the hobby to continue. I know that everyone uses their free time and good will to continue support, it's not self-evident.

FWIW, I grant permission to include VideoPoker in any ROM, no problem!

I need some help with ROMv6.

How can I load this ROM's ("proposedROMv6.rom" and "proposedDEVROM.rom") into at67 "gtemuAT67".

I make "ROMS" subdirectory, put various ROM there but only a few are visible in ROM list (Ctrl+R). I also try to modify "loader_config.ini" but without succes.

Need any help...

Sincerely.

You need a lower case "roms" folder for the latest version of my emulator, "loader.config" is not used to specify *.rom files anymore.
